Who we are and how to contact us
FitCircle is a social fitness accountability app. You can contact us about privacy, support, or data requests at support@fitcircle.space.
This policy explains how FitCircle collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal information when you use the FitCircle app, website, beta program, support channels, and related services.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide, information created when you use FitCircle, information from device permissions you choose to enable, and limited technical information needed to run, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use Apple Health, HealthKit, or other health and fitness data for advertising, marketing, or use-based data mining.
Account and profile data
Account and profile data may include your name, email address, username, profile photo, authentication identifiers, settings, communication preferences, and support messages.
Circle and challenge data
Circle and challenge data may include Circle membership, invites, challenge participation, selected goals, scoring settings, streaks, points, leaderboard position, check-ins, progress history, manual adjustments, and challenge results.
Circle and challenge information is used to run private accountability features and show relevant progress to members of the Circle or challenge you choose to join.
Activity and wellness data
FitCircle may process activity and wellness entries such as steps, workouts, distance, active minutes, Active Calories Burned, streak status, hydration, sleep, nutrition target completion, and other goals you choose to track.
This data is used for challenge scoring, progress updates, leaderboards, streaks, check-ins, and accountability features.
Apple Health / HealthKit data
If you choose to connect Apple Health, FitCircle may read only the activity data types you authorize, such as steps, workouts, distance, active minutes, and Active Calories Burned.
You can manage Apple Health permissions in iOS settings and disconnect Apple Health in FitCircle where available.
FitCircle does not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, cross-context behavioral advertising, or data mining. FitCircle does not sell HealthKit data and does not share it with third parties for advertising.
Nutrition Target privacy
Nutrition Target completion is treated as sensitive. Exact nutrition values are private by default.
FitCircle is designed to show completion, progress, or scoring status instead of exact nutrition values unless you intentionally choose a challenge setting that shares more detail.
Photos
If you upload photos for check-ins or challenge proof, those photos may be visible to the members of the relevant Circle or challenge.
Only upload photos you have the right to share. Avoid posting private information about other people without their permission.
Chat, feed, comments, and user content
FitCircle may collect chat messages, feed posts, comments, reactions, check-ins, captions, reports, and other content you create so the app can provide social accountability and safety features.
User content may be reviewed when needed to operate support, moderation, security, and enforcement workflows.
Device and technical data
We may collect device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate region, diagnostic events, crash logs, performance data, security logs, and similar technical information.
We use this information to operate the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, maintain security, and understand whether the app is working as intended.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, Circles, challenges, scoring, streaks, leaderboards, check-ins, chat, invitations, and support.
- Personalize the app experience and show progress, accountability, and challenge status.
- Maintain safety, enforce rules, investigate reports, prevent fraud or abuse, and protect users.
- Debug, secure, measure, and improve FitCircle.
- Communicate with you about support, account issues, security, beta access, policy updates, and service changes.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
Legal bases for international users
Where laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, Swiss FADP, Brazil LGPD, or similar privacy laws apply, we rely on appropriate legal bases for processing. These may include providing the service you requested, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing FitCircle, compliance with legal obligations, and protection of users or the public.
When processing requires consent, you may withdraw that consent through the app settings, device settings, or by contacting us, subject to legal and technical limits.
How information is shared within Circles
When you join a Circle or challenge, other permitted members may see information needed for that feature, such as display name, profile photo, challenge membership, points, rank, streaks, progress, completion status, check-ins, comments, and photos.
Exact health or nutrition values are not public by default. Sharing depends on the challenge rules, your settings, and the information you choose to submit.
How information is shared outside FitCircle
- Service providers that help us host, secure, analyze, support, or operate FitCircle, under appropriate contractual limits.
- Other users in your Circles or challenges, according to the feature and settings you choose.
- Authorities, legal parties, or safety contacts when required by law, legal process, safety, security, or rights protection.
- A successor organization if FitCircle is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of personal information.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use Apple Health or HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or data mining.
- We do not share health data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not publicly show exact nutrition values by default.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide FitCircle, maintain account and challenge history, support user safety, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it, de-identify it, or retain it only as permitted or required by law.
Data storage, security, and breach notices
FitCircle uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee perfect security.
If a security incident affects personal information, health information, or other protected data, we will evaluate notification duties under applicable U.S. federal and state laws, the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule where applicable, and international privacy laws where applicable.
International transfers
FitCircle is operated from the United States. If you use FitCircle from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, know about, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent or appeal a denied request. To exercise privacy rights, contact support@fitcircle.space.
We aim to respond to verified privacy and deletion requests within 45 days. If a request is complex or legally requires more time, we may extend the response period by up to 45 additional days and will let you know.
California and other U.S. state privacy rights
California residents and residents of certain other U.S. states may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, receive data portability, and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.
FitCircle does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide required opt-out controls.
EEA, UK, Switzerland, Canada, Brazil, and other international rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
We will honor applicable rights requests as required by the law that applies to you and to FitCircle.
Children's privacy
FitCircle is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not use FitCircle. If you are under the age required to consent to digital services in your country or region, you may use FitCircle only with valid parent or guardian consent where allowed by law.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to FitCircle, contact support@fitcircle.space so we can review and take appropriate action.
Account and data deletion
You can request account deletion through Settings -> Account -> Delete Account when available, or by contacting us from the email address linked to your FitCircle account.
Deletion may remove account details, profile data, Circle membership information, challenge participation data, synced health/activity records, uploaded photos, check-ins, chat/feed content, comments, reactions, and related app data, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, and operational limits.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as FitCircle changes. If changes are material, we will provide notice in the app, on the website, by email, or by another reasonable method.
